Rope Master / Skookum offers sheaves of cast manganese steel and cast steel because hard sheave surfaces offer the best bearing surface for wire rope, prolonging sheave life and rope life.

Skookum cast manganese steel sheaves offer the ultimate in sheave material. The material actually hardens to the use of wire rope and virtually will never wear out. This “work hardening” property of manganese not only gives greatly extended sheave life, but increases the service time of wire rope.

Skookum heavy-duty cast-steel sheaves give wire rope the proper hardened bearing surface required to food wire rope life, but do not have the “work hardening” property of cast manganese steel sheaves.
